The Prado National Museum (Museo Nacional del Prado, in spanish) is one of the most important art galleries in the world, and has an unparalleled collection of Spanish, Italian and Flemish painting.
 
The original nucleus of the collections of the Prado Museum comes from the Spanish monarchy. The Kings of Spain were art collectors for three centuries, and divided their purchases and orders between their many residencies throughout the Iberian Peninsula.

Highlights in the museum collections include works by Goya, Tintoretto Titian, Veronese, El Greco, Patinir, Rubens, Velasquez and Eduardo Rosales.
