How to get there

The Tavira Tower is a watchtower and one of the highest points in the city, 45 meters above sea level.

It is located in the Casa-Palacio of the Marquis of Recaño and was built in the eighteenth century in Baroque style.

It was the official watch tower at the port from Cadiz in 1778 and got its name from the first watchman, Antonio Tavira. It communicated using a system of signals with flags with Torre Alta, in San Fernando, to control the traffic of ships and goods from the port of Cadiz.

Today the Tavira Tower houses a dark room, one of the major tourist attractions of the city. It consists of a white screen as a table in the center of a totally black room, where you can see everything that happens in the streets of the city in real time in 15 minute sessions.
